Xpecialify (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates xpecialify.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version: we run a guide site. We do not have accounts, a cart, or a checkout, and we never take your payment details or a shipping address.
What We Collect
Information you send us
If you email us — a correction, a question, a note about a guide — we receive your email address and whatever you write. We keep it only as long as we need it to reply and to fix anything you pointed out.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use analytics to understand which guides are read and how people find them. This includes your IP address (usually shortened or anonymised), browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site you arrived from.
We use this in aggregate — to see that a guide is being read, not to identify you.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Analytics cookies — so we can tell which guides are useful.
- Affiliate cookies — set by affiliate networks when you click a link to a retailer, so that the retailer knows the visit came from us. See below.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Since there is no cart or checkout here, blocking cookies will not break anything on this site.
Affiliate Links and Cookies
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
When you click an affiliate link, the retailer — or an affiliate network acting on the retailer’s behalf — may set a cookie on your device. That cookie records that the visit came from Xpecialify so the commission can be attributed. It is set by them, not by us, and it expires on their schedule. We do not receive your name, your order, or your payment details from it — only that a sale was attributed.
Where a link is an affiliate link, we mark it as such in the page’s HTML. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains this in full.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not collect or store payment card details — we never take a payment.
- We do not collect shipping addresses — we never ship anything.
- We do not publish sponsored content, and we do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not require an account to read anything on this site.
Third Parties
A few services process data on our behalf or alongside us:
- Analytics providers — measure site traffic for us.
- Affiliate networks and retailers — receive the click when you follow an affiliate link, and handle any purchase you make on their own site under their own privacy policy.
- Our email provider — handles messages you send to our contact address.
Once you follow a link off Xpecialify, the destination site’s privacy policy applies. We do not control what they collect.
How Long We Keep It
Contact emails are kept while they are useful and then deleted. Analytics data is retained on our analytics provider’s standard schedule. We do not keep anything indefinitely without a reason.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. To make a request, email [email protected].
Because we hold so little — no accounts, no orders — in most cases there will be nothing to return beyond an email you sent us.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Security
This site is served over SSL. We take reasonable measures to protect what little we hold. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date below will change with it.
