Katana Lightsaber | SNV4 Pro / Proffie V2.2 | Xpecialify

A katana-style hilt with a flat, sword-shaped blade — not a round tube. Why does that matter? Because most lightsabers look like glowing broomsticks. This one looks like a sword. Gold hilt. Red wrapped grip. A flat blade profile that reads differently from every angle. Two electronics tiers. Two blade colors. It’s the most distinctive hilt we carry.

  • Flat blade — not round. The angular profile reads like a sword blade, not a glowing tube. Changes shape dramatically as you turn it.
  • Two-handed grip with tsuba guard. Longer hilt, wrapped grip, functional hand guard. Built for kendo and kenjutsu-style handling.
  • 15 product images — one of the most photographed sabers we carry. Every angle of the hilt, blade, and wrap detail.

Which Version Should You Get?

SNV4 Pro ($299) — The one most customers pick. Cinematic Neopixel effects, Bluetooth app control, 27+ sound fonts. Plug and play — no computer required. Change colors, effects, and sound fonts from the ForcePark app on your phone. It’s the sweet spot.

Proffie V2.2 ($369) — Same flat blade. Same Neopixel strip. Same hilt. Different brain. Proffie lets you program every pixel, every ignition effect, every sound font from the community library. But you’ll need a computer and the patience to edit config files. Get this if you enjoy tinkering. Skip it if you don’t.

Red blade or Blue? Red is the dark-side katana look — Sith, Ronin, lone warrior. Blue is the Jedi alternative — cleaner, brighter, reads more “traditional sword” on camera. Same price either way. So which one? Pick the color that fits your character. The hilt and electronics don’t change. Only the blade LED does.

Who Is This For?

Get the Katana if:

  • You want a saber that looks like a sword, not a tube. The flat blade profile is the whole point. Round blades are universal. Flat blades are distinctive. When you ignite this at a convention, people notice the shape before the color.
  • You have a kendo, kenjutsu, or two-handed weapons background. The longer hilt and wrapped grip are built for two-handed control. If you naturally reach for a sword with both hands, this hilt matches your muscle memory.
  • You want a saber no one else at the club has. Everyone runs standard round-blade hilts. The flat blade alone sets this apart before you even turn it on.

Skip the Katana if:

  • You primarily duel heavy contact. Neopixel flat blades are harder to replace than standard round blades. For heavy dueling, get one of our ECO Sabers or a Saber Replica in S-RGB.
  • You prefer one-handed fighting. The extended grip is designed for two hands. It’s usable one-handed but unbalanced that way — the hilt is longer than you need.
  • You want to swap blades with other sabers. Flat blades use a different emitter geometry than round 1″ blades. They’re not cross-compatible. If blade swapping matters to you, go with a round-blade hilt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What’s a flat blade — is it different from a regular lightsaber blade?

A: Yes. Standard saber blades are round 1-inch polycarbonate tubes. The Katana’s blade is flat and wide (~75mm across) with an angular cross-section — shaped like an actual sword blade, not a glowing cylinder. It looks dramatically different in person, especially when you turn it. From the front it’s sword-shaped. From the side it’s narrow. No round blade does that.

Q2: Can I duel with the Katana?

A: Light to medium sparring — yes. The tsuba (hand guard) actually gives you more hand protection than most round-blade sabers. But this is a Neopixel saber with a flat blade — both the LED strip and the blade geometry make it less suitable for heavy full-contact dueling than our S-RGB baselit models. For choreographed work and casual sparring, it handles fine.

Q3: Can I put a round blade in this hilt?

A: No. The emitter is designed for the flat blade’s specific cross-section geometry. Round 1-inch blades won’t fit. Replacement flat blades are available — contact us when you need one.

Q4: SNV4 Pro or Proffie — which should I get?

A: SNV4 Pro. Unless you already know why you’d want Proffie. Here’s the thing — SNV4 Pro gives you cinematic Neopixel effects, 27 sound fonts, and full app control from your phone. Zero setup. Proffie V2.2 adds unlimited custom blade styles but requires USB programming. If the words “config file” make you want to close this tab, you don’t need Proffie.

Q5: What’s the difference between the Red and Blue versions?

A: The blade LED color is set at purchase — Red or Blue. The hilt, electronics, effects, and sound fonts are identical between the two. Pick the color that fits your character. Red for Sith/Ronin. Blue for Jedi/traditional sword aesthetic.

Q6: Is the grip wrap real leather?

A: It’s a synthetic tsuka-ito wrap — designed to mimic traditional katana handle wrapping with the texture and grip of authentic ray skin (samegawa) underlay. It’s durable, non-slip, and won’t degrade with sweat the way real leather can. The red wrap contrasts with the gold hilt body.

Q7: How long is the hilt — is it comfortable?

A: The hilt is ~318mm (about 12.5 inches) — longer than a standard single-hand saber. This is intentional. The extra length is for two-handed grip. If you’re used to kendo or any two-handed sword work, it’ll feel natural. If you only fight one-handed, it’ll feel long.

Q8: What comes in the box with the Katana?

A: The hilt, the flat blade (in your chosen color), USB-C charging cable, display stand, blade plugs, hex key, retention screws, instruction manual, and a hard carrying case. Everything you need to unbox, charge, and ignite.
